About

The Cervantes Society is a 501(c)3 Hispanic fraternal organization within the New York State Unified Court System. It was founded in 1996 by a core group of Hispanic judicial and non-judicial employees who wanted a more equitable representation of Hispanic employees in the court system. The Society's membership includes court interpreters, judges, court officers, court clerks, court aides and many other titles within the court system. The Cervantes Society welcomes all employees of the Unified Court System.

We do outreach in our community when promotional examinations and new positions are posted. The Cervantes Society networks on behalf of our members so that those individuals making hiring decisions are fully appraised of the quality of our candidates. We have many activities throughout the year that include a Resume Bank, Mentor Program, Toys-for-Tots Drive, Children's Holiday Party and Hispanic Heritage Month.

Our Mission

Our mission is to establish a network of ideas, activities and resources designed to promote fellowship and the career enhancement of our members. Promoting fellowship begins with sharing and understanding our diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

The Cervantes Society is dedicated to maximizing the ability of its members to further their careers within the Unified Court System and to ensure our fair representation
